The Original Editor: Tables: Table Format

To modify overall settings for a table, click on the Edit icon that is displayed immediately underneath the table.

The table properties will appear in the Properties Frame.

Border Width - Set the pixel width of the border around the table and between cells. When you view a table within the editor, it will always be displayed with a border width of at least 1 so you can see where the tables and cells are.

Cell Spacing - This sets the spacing between cells, in pixels.

Cell Padding - Use this to set the padding between the cell border and the cell contents, in pixels.

Background Color - To view a selection of colors, click on the Color link. A color chart showing the 16 basic colors and the 216 web-safe colors will be displayed in the Preview Area.

If you want to use one of the 16 basic colors you can choose from the dropdown list. To use one of the web-safe colors, click on the color you want to use. Its hex code will be pasted into the box next to the dropdown list.

If you'd like to use a different color than the web-safe colors, select Other... in the dropdown list and enter its hex code in the box. Do not include the hash (#) symbol.

Border Color - Choose the color for your table border in the same manner as above.

Width and Height - You can set the width of your table in a percentage of the width of the page, or an absolute width in pixels. You can set the height of your table in a percentage of the height of the page (this does not work in all browsers), or an absolute height in pixels.

Alignment - This sets the horizontal alignment of the table on the page: left edge, centered, or right edge.

Background Image - To see a preview of the available backgrounds, click on the Background link next to the dropdown list. Thumbnails of the available background images will be displayed in the Preview Area. Click a thumbnail to select that image, click OK in the alert box, then click Save. The dropdown list also includes any images you have uploaded to your web, though these will not be displayed with the preview thumbnails.

Remember to click the Save button when you are finished.
