The Original Editor: Tables: Cell Format

To modify the settings for a single cell, click on the first Edit icon displayed within the cell.

The cell properties will appear in the Properties Frame, as below.

Wrap/No Wrap - If you do not want any text in the cell to wrap onto the next line, select nowrap in the dropdown list.

Horizontal Alignment - This sets the horizontal alignment of elements inside this cell.

Vertical Alignment - This sets the vertical alignment of any elements within this cell.

Left aligned Top aligned
Centered Middle aligned
Right aligned Bottom aligned

Background Color - Background color for the cell will override any background color or image set for the overall table.

To view a selection of colors, click on the Color link. A color chart showing the 16 basic colors and the 216 web-safe colors will be displayed in the Preview Area.

If you want to use one of the 16 basic colors you can choose from the dropdown list. To use one of the web-safe colors, click on the color you want to use. Its hex code will be pasted into the box next to the dropdown list.

If you'd like to use a different color than the web-safe colors, select Other... in the dropdown list and enter its hex code in the box. Do not include the hash (#) symbol.

Width and Height - You can set the width of your cell in a percentage of the width of the table, or an absolute width in pixels. You can set the height of the cell in a percentage of the height of the table (this does not work in all browsers), or an absolute height in pixels.

Background Image - The background image for a cell will override the background color or image set for the entire table.

To see a preview of the available backgrounds, click on the Background link next to the dropdown list. Thumbnails of the available background images will be displayed in the Preview Area. Click a thumbnail to select that image, click OK in the alert box, then click Save. The dropdown list also includes any images you have uploaded to your web, though these will not be displayed with the preview thumbnails.

Deleting rows and columns is covered here, and inserting rows and columns is covered here.

Remember to click Save when you are finished.
