The theme of this week's poems is "Friendship!"

GOOD FRIENDS

They seem to sense,

When we're feeling blue.

They know exactly what to do!

So often their prayers,

Have pulled us through!

Dear Friends!

It's so good to have them near,

Lending a listening ear!

Though their advice isn't always,

What we want to hear,

We listen, 'cause they're friends!

Ah, friendship is a great treasure,

Which is impossible to measure!

Isn't it a pleasure,

Having good friends?

BLOOD BROTHERS

I have a good Holiness friend.

Brother Rick Combs is his name.

Our personalities seem to blend,

Because our likes are much the same.

However, our greatest desire,

Is to serve Christ, our Lord,

And to be filled with Holy Ghost fire!

That's the least we can afford.

Rick and I aren't natural kin.

Our genealogy is not the same.

But, we both have been "born again!"

So, we'll never he the same.

We've been washed in Jesus' blood,

And like so many others,

Once we were plunged beneath that flood,

We became "blood brothers!"

FAREWELL, MY FRIEND

It was a “taste of Heaven” you know,

Having fellowship with you!

However, now it’s time for me to go,

And I’ll admit I’m feeling blue.

Yes, I’ll even shed some tears,

As I go on my way.

But, I thank God for the years, That led up to today!

Your friendship I cherish so,

More than words can say.

And I surely hope you know,

It will always be that way!

Some day we won’t have to part!

Eternally together we shall be!

‘Til then I’ll treasure in my heart,

Just how much you mean to me!

DEAR FRIEND, I WANT TO SAY

Dear friend I want to say,

You were on my mind today,

So, I called out your name in prayer!

Although we’re far apart,

You know within your heart,

How much I long to be there.

I don’t know what I would do,

Without a good friend like you,

To be an occasional “sounding board.”

You sure don’t seem to mind,

So I often find,

Your friendship is a gift from the Lord!

Yes, life has its ups and downs.

Smiles often become frowns,

And occasionally our hearts are broken too.

But, friends like you come along,

Turning our sorrow into song,

And making our gray skies blue!

A FRIEND OF THE FAMILY

When Jesus took young children upon His knee,

To the multitude it was plain to see,

That the "Man of Galilee,"

Was a Friend of the Family!

Jesus stopped a funeral procession one day.

Upon the funeral bier a young man lay.

Folks thereabouts had heard so many say,

"Jesus is a Friend of the Family!"

So as Jesus reached out His hand,

Death heard the Master's command,

And the young man immediately arose to stand,

Before the Friend of the Family!

Lazarus, Jesus' friend was about to die.

"Lord, come quickly," was Mary and Martha's cry.

But, then several days passed by,

Without a word from the Friend of the Family.

Then, suddenly Jesus came down the road,

And stopped at Lazarus' Bethany abode!

Quickly Martha and Mary strode,

Out to meet the Friend of the Family.

Waiting momentarily for her sobbing to subside,

Martha pitifully cried,

"Had You been here my brother wouldn't have died,"

"Dear Friend of the Family!"

As Jesus proceeded to Lazarus tomb,

The mood that day was totally gloom.

But, the crowd parted to make room,

For the Friend of the Family.

Weeping as He went, Jesus walked about.

Then the multitude heard a victorious shout,

"Brother Lazarus, come on out,"

And greet the Friend of the Family!"

Friend, I was just like Lazarus only I was spiritually dead.

In trespasses and sins I was over my head.

But, then one day Jesus said,

"I'm a Friend of the Family!"

So I asked Him to turn my life around.

With His help I'm spiritually sound!

I'll be eternally grateful for the moment I found,

This Friend of the Family!

JESUS, MY FRIEND AND GUIDE!

I say, "I Love you Lord," several times a day,

Other than when I kneel and pray!

I desire to keep Jesus on my mind!

For in His love sweet peace I find!

He stands by me when the goin' gets rough!

Friend, I could never praise Him enough!

You see, I'm not on the mountain top all of the time,

And, sometimes it takes days a mountain to climb!

There are times when I'm in the valley low,

And, I cry, “Lord, which way should I go?”

It is then I 'm reminded by my Friend and Guide,

I'm safe if I will in Him abide!

He makes a plain path for me to follow Him!

Then, He holds my hand when the path grows dim!

Jesus never, ever leaves me all alone!

He's a personal Friend I can call my own!

Oft times when I'm weary and I need some rest,

I lean upon my Saviour's breast!

It is there sweet rest through Him I find,

For my soul, body, spirit, and mind!

My daily walk with Him is sublime!

He says, "Son, take one day at a time!"

Ah Friend, it's good to know when I lie down at night,

That if I don't live to see the morning light,

For my life has come down to its end

There waiting for me will be Jesus, my Friend!

.....there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother-Proverbs 18:24 KJV
